City Creek Canyon: Contemplative Discussion and then Hike with Rabbi Steve

May 27 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

B’Midbar/In the Wilderness

Why was the Torah given in the wilderness, in a desert, not in a building, not even in Israel! And the “Tent of Meeting” or the “Ohel Moed?”  Even in the wilderness we sometimes need to create special sacred spaces?  And how does the ongoing Revelation call to us today?

We will begin our gathering in a special outdoor location. No hiking required!  We will study and discuss texts, including Jewish texts and some excerpts from Red Rock Testimonies about “sacred space.”  Feel free to bring snacks and drinks to share.

After 60-90 min. we will conclude our conversations, and those who wish to will continue on an easy/moderate hike for 2-3hrs.  Bring snacks, water, proper gear for feet and the sun.

10:00 a.m., meet at City Creek Canyon entrance gate in the upper canyon (on City Creek Canyon Road).
